What is Inward Processing?

Inward Processing (IP) is a Customs Special Procedure that allows for suspension of customs duties and/or VAT on goods imported from outside of the UK when they are destined to be used for processing or repair.

Discharge of goods can be in the form of, but not limited to:

  • Re-export
  • Removal from IP to release for free circulation
  • Removal from IP to an alternative special procedure
