Transit

Customs Transit is a special procedure used to move goods from one point to another while remaining under customs supervision. As the goods remain under customs control, there is no need for additional customs declarations and VAT/duty at each border that is crossed.

The document that is provided to facilitate the procedure is called a TAD (Transit Accompanying Document).

Examples of Transit Movements:

T2 Transit:

Used for Union goods moving from one EU Member State to another when the route passes through a non‑EU country.

T1 Transit:

Used for non‑Union goods, for example, when goods enter a new customs territory and continue inland to a designated location (such as a bonded warehouse) for clearance.
