The Animal Plant Health Agency (APHA)

APHA are an executive agency under DEFRA that are responsible for overseeing Animal, plant, and Bee health in England, Scotland and Wales.

 

They have many responsibilities, but their function in customs is to monitor the spread of endemic and exotic diseases in animals, protection of endangered wildlife and implementation of SPS border controls for goods of animal or plant origin.
