External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF)
An External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF) is a customs-approved location, usually located at or near a port or airport, where goods are held under temporary storage immediately after arrival into the UK.
Goods placed into an ETSF have not yet been declared to a customs procedure and remain under customs control until they are either cleared, moved inland (e.g. to an ITSF), or placed under another procedure such as transit.
ETSFs are commonly used to hold goods at the border while awaiting customs instructions or documentation.
