Customs Declaration Service (CDS)

The Customs Declaration Service (CDS) is the UK’s electronic system for submitting import and export customs declarations.

CDS has replaced the older Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system and is designed to provide improved data handling, better integration with other government systems, and compliance with modern international customs standards.

The system is a central part of the UK’s customs infrastructure, supporting the efficient and compliant movement of goods across borders.
