Common Health Entry Document (CHED)

The Common Health Entry Document (CHED) is submitted to the relevant border control authorities for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) goods. It allows officials to verify the origin of the goods, ensure they meet the regulatory requirements of the importing country, and confirm that they are safe to be cleared for import.

There are several types of CHED, depending on the category of goods being declared:
  • CHED‑A: Germinal products and live animals
  • CHED‑P: Products of Animal Origin (POAO)
  • CHED‑PP: Phytosanitary (plant) products
  • CHED‑D: High‑Risk Food Not of Animal Origin (HRFNAO)

In most cases, creating a CHED requires an associated certificate. This is either an Export Health Certificate (EHC) for POAO or HRFNAO, or a Phytosanitary Certificate for plant products. CHEDs can be submitted via TRACES NT (for movements into the EU) or IPAFFS (for movements into Great Britain).
