Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)

AEO accreditation is a globally recognised mark of trust awarded to businesses that demonstrate they maintain the highest standards in customs compliance, supply chain security and operational reliability.

The AEO kitemark signifies that a business is safe and secure within a supply chain and its processes and procedures are compliant in accordance with the SAFE framework of standards set by the World Customs Organisation (WCO).

In GB and in the EU AEO is split into two categories- AEOS (Safety and Security) and AEOC (Customs Simplification). If a business has both they may be referred to it as having AEOF (Full).

AEOS - Safety and Security
AEOS is granted to businesses that prove to be compliant in their customs and administration processes, as well as in their safety and security standards. AEOS is mostly obtained by traders and logistics providers who physically possess, transport or store the goods.

Some of the benefits of attaining AEOS are;
• Reduced security-related checks and faster clearance
• Lower risk profile in customs risk assessments
• Reduced declaration requirements for ENS and EXS declarations
• Greater trust from global trade partners

AEOC - Customs Simplification
AEOC has a focus on customs processes, financial solvency and record keeping, attaining this means that a company has extensively proven their compliance in these areas. AEOC is mostly obtained by customs brokers, freight forwarders and other traders who don't physically possess the goods but are involved in supply chain management (We hold this one!).

Some of the benefits of attaining AEOC are;
• Easier access to customs simplifications and authorisations
• Fewer physical and document-based customs checks
• Enhanced reputation and credibility with customs authorities
