What is HRFNAO?
High-Risk Food and Feed Not of Animal Origin (HRFNAO) refers to certain plant-based products that are considered high risk due to known safety concerns such as contamination with pesticides.
Some examples include certain nuts, seeds, herbs, dried fruits and some vegetables depending on their country of origin. These products are subject to enhanced import controls including official sampling and testing at the border. HRFNAO checks are designed to protect public and animal health by ensuring these goods meet UK and international safety standards before they enter the market.
